The Carolina Tarwheels Bicycle Club

A group of bicycle enthusiasts who organize social rides in Orange, Durham, Wake, Alamance, and Chatham counties of North Carolina. We promote the fun and challenge of cycling and advocate for cycling safety and bike-friendly policies in our communities. The Tarwheels are affiliated with the League of American Bicyclists (LAB).

Welcome new and returning Board members!
Last week, the Tarwheels met to elect new board members to replace Bill Heemstra and Sharon Roggenbuck

2012 Grant Awards Announced

The Carolina Tarwheels have a yearly Tradition of giving away the
proceeds from the Bikefest event to local charitable organizations
that have bike and bicycling oriented causes. This year is no
exception.

This year, the Tarwheels have granted funding requests of nearly
$18,000 to the following organizations:

• Bridge II Sports
• Carrboro Bicycle Coalition
• Durham Bike & Pedestrian Advisory Commission (BPAC)
• Kids in Training
• Lewis Days
• Rural Road Safety Coalition
• Spoke n Revolutions
• Triangle Velo
• Trips for Kids - Triangle
