July 29 Thursday Tarwheel Club Meeting
The meeting will be held on Thur July 29th at 6PM at Carolina Ale House on
Durham Chapel Hill Blvd. in Durham, near Sam's Club.
We're going to have a repeat of a meeting we had some time ago that was very popular. We will have an assortment of "special" bikes. A recumbent, tandem, trike, Bike Friday folding
bike, and maybe more. Each person will tell a little about the bike and why they
chose it. If you have a special or custom bike feel free to bring it.
We'll eat and socialize about 6PM and then take a look at the bikes. As usual, I'll have
jerseys and t-shirts. Questions? Call Sharon at 919-732-4866 or cell 919-215-1309.
Adopt-a-highway Co-coordinator needed!
Our Club owes a big "thank you" to Margret Mueller for organizing roadside cleanup for 5 years. Her co-coordinator Dave Curtin will continue but we need someone to work with him. (here is Margret's letter:
After five years of coordinating the roadside clean-up, I am stepping down. As
of now, my co-coordinator Dave Curtin will continue. While the poor turn-out of
volunteers to help is a factor, this decision is mostly an effort to simplify my
life a bit. The clean-up only requires two to four half-days a year, and the
task is actually quite enjoyable, especially when combined with a short ride
beforehand and ice cream afterward. I would be happy to talk to any interested
members about the position. Please consider how much you enjoy biking in the
beautiful Dairyland Road area and how relatively trash free it is due to our
efforts. I hope someone will be motivated to take over this position (next
clean-up is due around the end of Summer). Thank you!
