To lead a beginner/new member ride:
- Begin by contacting the Beginner/New
member Ride Coordinator who will provide you with the latest list
of beginner routes and beginner ride guidelines.

The following information also applies to beginner/new member rides...
To lead any Tarwheels ride:

Contact one of the Ride Coordinators
to schedule the ride you'd like to lead.

Prepare a map and/or cue sheet and scout the route before the ride.

Arrive early to welcome riders, make introductions and brief participants
on the details of the ride.

Make sure all riders are wearing helmets.

Have all riders sign the release and waiver of liability form. You can download
the form and print it out.

Ride at advertised pace.

"Lead from the rear" or appoint someone to "ride sweep." Please don't allow
anyone to get "dropped" by themselves unless the ride was advertised as a training
ride.
- If an accident occurs with injuries, please contact the Insurance
Coordinator to fill out an accident report.
Checklist of items to take with you on the day of the ride. (Only the first
item is mandatory!)
- Release and waiver of liability form and pen. Mandatory.
- Maps and queue sheets?
- Tire pump and patch kit?
- Tool kit?
- Cell phone?
- Tarwheels membership forms and business cards?
- Extra water bottle?
- Edible goodies for riders?
- Don't forget your bicycle and helmet!
